Employment Practices Liability
Employment Practices Liability (EPL) is a form of liability insurance that provides an employer with protection against allegations made by current, former, or potential employees. EPL insurance would cover the costs associated with lawsuits that allege wrongful acts by the company such as discrimination, sexual harassment, wrongful dismissal, wrongful deprivation of a career opportunity, breach of employment contract, failure to promote, or negligent evaluation.
The policy would provide protection for the corporate entity, directors, officers and employees in the instance of an allegation of a wrongful act on the part of the employer.
Allegations made by employees can have a negative effect on a company’s reputation and bottom line plus the firm’s ability to attract and retain good employees. An EPL policy will help your retain your reputation and will include defence expenses, discovery costs, and fines, judgement or settlement cost.
